ADELE HALL
DipTchg (ECE)
With 35 years of dedicated service in Early Childhood Education (ECE), my journey has taken me through various settings, including a fulfilling decade at Playcentre, followed by two decades proudly managing Highbury House ELC. What ignites my passion for teaching is the art of storytelling, the creativity of drama, the empowerment of literacy, and the cultivation of curiosity. I believe in fostering environments where both children and teachers alike develop a positive self-view and are inspired to reach their full potential. Beyond the classroom, my life is enriched by my 34-year partnership with Carl, our three grown children, and now with the anticipation of our first grandbaby. Our Labrador fur baby adds joy to our household. In the moments between, I find solace and enrichment in the pages of books, the narratives of movies, the melodies of music, the creation of culinary delights, and the ongoing pursuit of knowledge. But above all, I cherish the connections made through shared moments with friends and family.

LAUREL NUYSINK
BDS GradDipTchg (ECE)
I trained as a dental surgeon at Otago University and worked as a dentist for 13 years. After having my three children, I re-trained as an early childhood teacher and have been at Highbury House ELC for 14 years. I am passionate about families and children and love being part of a child’s early years, which are foundational to their development and learning. I love supporting children in developing skills to understand and manage their emotions, build strong relationships, and navigate the world with empathy, resilience, and confidence. Encouraging them to wonder, investigate, question, and try new things is exciting. Born in South Africa, I moved to New Zealand at 12. I’m married to Bart, and we have two daughters, a son, and two mischievous Burmese cats. Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, hiking, cycling, reading, and spending time with family and friends. I’m also learning Dutch, which is fun and useful as my husband is from the Netherlands, and I’m always excited about traveling to Europe!

I have been teaching in community ECE for 8 ½ years. Before this, I spent nearly a decade at Playcentre with my three children, where I found my passion for teaching. Previously, I was a fashion designer specialising in swimwear and activewear. What I love most about teaching is forming authentic relationships with tamariki and whānau and having fun. My passion is visual arts and storytelling. I enjoy encouraging creativity and curiosity in tamariki and watching their imaginations soar. I am from Auckland, Tāmaki Makaurau. I've been married to Noel for 27 years, and we have three children, two cats, and lots of guppie fish. We love camping at Whananaki, where we surf, trek, swim, fish, and relax. In my spare time, I enjoy painting, handcrafts, belly dancing, and photography—especially nature and family moments. I also love bush walks and reading.

Mabuhay! I've been in the ECE industry for about 8 years now, following 11 years as an overseas preschool teacher in the Philippines. What I really love most about teaching is singing and movement through music. I find inspiration in children showcasing their talent through music. I also enjoy reading stories to children, especially with interesting audiobooks that encourage their active participation. I've been married for 16 years and have 2 teenage boys. My family enjoys going on short trips, picnics, and discovering different parks, lakes, and beaches around Auckland. I really enjoy going out for coffee and catching up with friends. When I'm home, I enjoy listening to and singing along with 80's and 90's music. Because of my love for music, I aspire to learn how to play and sing songs using the ukulele someday.

Born and raised in Aotearoa, I've lived in Wellington or Auckland my entire life and currently reside in Birkenhead. In my spare time, I enjoy exploring local bush walks and reserves, reading, learning new things, and baking. I'm also learning to sew and crochet, and I'm determined to finish the queen-sized Tunisian Entrelac crochet blanket I started almost three years ago!

BIRGIT POST
I hold a Master's Degree in Education, Health Science, and Social Work from Germany, along with a Diploma in Teaching ECE and a Postgraduate Diploma in Special Education/Pedagogy. In New Zealand, I have worked for IHC, CCS Mobility Action, Special Education Services NZ, and for the past 17 years, I have been a Kaiako at Highbury House Early Learning Centre. Teaching tamariki during their crucial early years to give them a positive head start in their lifelong learning journey is my treasured passion. I love connecting with children and creating an environment of love and wonder, fostering their curiosity to explore and discover the world around them. As the mum of a young adult son, I stay updated on the latest electronic devices and gadgets, and learn a lot about life in our fast-changing times. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, exploring different cultures and cuisines, dancing with friends, and attending concerts and art exhibitions. I also find relaxation in reading and gardening.

SAMANTHA CALLINAN
I qualified in the UK in 1994, so I'm celebrating 30 years in ECE this year! I've called NZ home since 2005. My love for teaching comes from finding joy and laughter through storytelling, art, and exploring children’s interests to support their independence and learning. I'm a Mum to two beautiful teen girls and two Yorkie fur babies. In my spare time, I play pétanque, am part of a tribal belly dancing group, socialize with friends and family, and enjoy walking and reading.
