We offer a centre that can be used as a creche while parents attend classes at the Community House or take a break; a playgroup where parents or caregivers can stay with their children; or an early childhood education centre. Children are cared for by qualified, experienced and caring staff. There are three permanent staff members and two voluntary helpers are required each session. Children are encouraged to learn through interaction with adults and children, playing with a variety of good quality equipment, and taking part in a range of activities catering for their physical, social, intellectual and emotional needs. |
|
|
The creche is licensed for 25 children, no more than 10 under two year olds. The Monday and Wednesday afternoon sessions are for permanently booked children only, however some casual spaces are sometimes available. Other sessions are for casual use, although you may book if you are attending a class at the Community House or have a special appointment.
Casual bookings may be made from 5pm the evening before the session is required.

Children, parents and teachers come together at Highbury Community Creche as part of a community of people involved in the lifelong journey of learning. We believe that young children learn most effectively by being actively involved in what they do by being with interested adults who understand their individual strengths and interests and who respect them. We value the
contributions of all the children and offer equitable learning opportunities within a child centred programme. We want children to have fun while they play and learn alongside other children. |
|
Highbury Community Creche is a place for parents to be nurtured and supported as they gain confidence in their parenting role. Families are recognised as the child’s first teacher and teachers at the creche form partnerships with parents which support children to learn and grow.
Management believes that to reach educational excellence teachers must be trained in child development, well supported, provided with appropriate teaching resources and given professional guidance.
Effective communication between parents, teachers and management will form the basis of important relationships that will ensure Highbury Community Creche is a happy, safe place for everyone to learn and grow in.
