HISTORY

Highbury After-School Care began in July 1990. Based at St Aidans Church community rooms, primary-ages children are offered an after-school program at the end of the school day.

PROGRAMME PHILOSOPHY

The program aims to provide a safe, stimulating and enjoyable program which caters for the children’s different ages, sex and cultural backgrounds while attempting to encompass individual needs and interests.
The safety of the children is the paramount consideration during program provision.

ENROLMENT AND FEES

Enrolment is finalised upon completion of an enrolment form and the signing of this sheet.

PROGRAMME CONTENT

Our After School Care staff provide the children with afternoon tea and a variety of indoor/outdoor activities in a warm and co-operative environment. Homework can be supervised if required. At times, as part of the program, we do use the neighbouring schools’ outdoor play area. If this happens a note will be left on the door informing you as such.

POLICIES & PROCEDURES

Please see the supervisor if you wish to view our Policies and Procedures booklet. It contains detailed information on health and safety, making complaints, employment practices etc.

BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT

We use behaviour management techniques that encourage positive self-esteem development. It is our goal to ensure that children and families experience an environment where they are safe, secure, respected and their dignity is protected. This is done through the use of positive reinforcement and a stimulating and varied program to ensure against boredom. Every effort will be made to help your child settle into the program. However, if a child’s behaviour is consistently harmful to the other children, parents will be asked to remove him/her from the program.

EMERGENCIES

Our staff are trained to deal with emergencies. In the case of a serious accident involving your child the staff will contact you and take your child to the nearest medical facility. In a civil emergency the staff will remain at the centre until all children are collected.
